Critique Levels

Note: My rates are for picture book manuscripts up to 800 words. For longer manuscripts, please contact me for a quote. At this time, I am not offering critiques for chapter books or novels.

Quick Look: I will read through your manuscript and comment on the general premise and direction of the story. For rhyming manuscripts I will also make note of any obvious trouble spots with the rhyme and meter. If you have a manuscript that is fairly polished, but you would like some fresh, objective feedback, this might be the right option for you. Turnaround: 1-3 business days. 

In Depth: I will read through your manuscript and give thorough feedback on premise, plot, character development, and voice. For rhyming manuscripts this will include detailed feedback on the story's rhyme and meter. Please note that, because of the time involved, my rate for an In Depth critique of a rhyming manuscript is slightly higher than for non-rhyming texts. Turnaround: 3-5 business days. 

Second Look: I will take a second look at a manuscript for which I have previously done an in depth critique. Turnaround: 1-3 business days.

Zoom session: An optional follow-up to an In Depth critique, during which we can discuss my comments on your story, your ideas for revision, and anything else that would be helpful to you as you move forward with your manuscript. 

Rates

Quick Look: $25 for any picture book up to 800 words

In Depth: 

Up to 500 words, non-rhyme: $50, rhyme: $60

Over 500, up to 800 words, non-rhyme: $75, rhyme: $90

Second Look: 

Up to 500 words: $20 

Over 500, up to 800 words: $30

Zoom Session: $15 for up to 20 minutes
