Lazy mornings
stretched-out days,
soaking up the warm sun's rays,
brewing sun tea,
crunching ice,
going camping once or twice,
wearing flip-flops,
twirling skirts,
feeling warm in sleeveless shirts,
tending the garden,
smelling flowers,
breathing scents of thundershowers,
hearing the songs of bugs and birds--
all help me to write these summer words.

Summer in the Midwest is nigh unto perfection, if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteYou are so good ... you probably came up with that in a mere 5 minutes, didn't you!? Amazing!
ReplyDeleteAngie--I do love summer in the midwest. Thunderstorms, steamy afternoons at the lake, lightning bugs.
ReplyDeleteToday was especially hot. The sun tea was ready in less than an hour!
Kelly--Thanks! It was a spontaneous poem, but it took more than five minutes. :-)
Mmm, I love the smell of a summer rain storm. Great images!
